With all the advancements in tool design over the centuries, and especially the last few years, the spoke shave is one that has not changed a great deal. The common weakness across most types is the depth of cut adjustment, Veritas have overcome this for those still wishing to use a wooden spokeshave, that requires no tools for adjustment or blade removal or change. A dense close grained hardwood is recommended, this will stand up to the stress placed on such a tool, and accept the tapped thread this tool uses for blade adjustment.
The large blade is 70mm x 3.2mm thick. The larger shave is a good general-purpose tool.
You provide and shape the wood of your choice, with a minimum blank sizes of 280mm x 38mm x 22mm.
Basic woodworking skills required.
Each kit includes:
•An A2 steel blade,
•A brass wear strip,
•Two brass lock nuts and adjustment thumb wheels,
•A tap,
•Complete detailed instructions.
