WEST SYSTEM Black Pigment - 125ML **DG
Description
Due to the nature of this product, shipping companies class it as a dangerous good (Class 9. Environmentally Hazardous Substance).
502 Black Pigment is an epoxy-based liquid colorant used to tint the epoxy mixture black, providing an even, black color base for the final finish system.
Adding a coloring agent to WEST SYSTEM® Epoxy is frequently done to make colored castings, highlight an epoxy-coated surface, act as a colored base coat for paint, etc. Most powdered pigments are satisfactory, as are acrylic paste pigments and universal tinting pigment.
Adding pigment to epoxy should, like everything in life, be done in moderation. Without exception, adding pigment to WEST SYSTEM Epoxy will weaken the cured mixture to some degree. Because of this, we suggest you use very small amounts of pigment, about 5% by weight. As a result, thin films of colored epoxy are somewhat transparent. It usually requires several coats to make the film opaque.
Cured, pigmented epoxy surfaces are not a final finish surface, but require an additional paint or UV filter coating for ultraviolet protection.
Add to the mixed resin/hardener at a rate of approximately one teaspoon of pigment to 8 fl oz of epoxy.
When using 300 Mini Pumps with 5:1 ratio epoxy mixtures, 10 strokes of 105 Resin and 10 strokes of 205 or 206 Hardener yields 8 fl oz. of epoxy; for 3:1 ratio epoxy mixtures, 9 strokes of 105 Resin and 9 strokes of 207 or 209 Hardener yields 8.1 fl oz. of epoxy.
More pigments will increase opaqueness and mixture viscosity.

Dangerous Good
Shipping dangerous goods requires additional, specific packaging to minimise the risk of damage and to ensure the products will not leak. There are also specific labels and paperwork required to be provided from Carbatec to the Couriers and then special handling may be required by the couriers.
This additional work results in a surcharge of $14.50 per courier pack.
The freight cost can be calculated by adding the surcharge to the standard freight charge to your address (rural addresses will also attract a RD surcharge as normal).
Additional processing times advised by NZ Post for Dangerous Goods of 1-5 additional days for Economy items as staff need to check that parcels comply with NZ Post requirements to be transported.
The additional processing period within the North or South Island is 1-2 days (which may be extended to 2-3 days as required), and 3-4 days between islands (due to extra requirements for items travelling on interisland ferries).
Please phone for a quote on freight costs.
