Veritas Wheel Marking Gauge Micro Adj Metric
Description
Veritas Code 05N35.21
Yet another handy measuring tool no workshop should be without. Traditional marking gauges use a sharpened pin to mark a line. These can follow the grain, so not always give an accurate mark. The Veritas Wheel Marking Gauge with Imperial graduations uses a sharpened wheel to slice the grain rather than depress it.
For measuring the depth of a mortice, a Standard Wheel Gauge is just fine, however if finer adjustments are needed, a Micro-Adjust Gauge cannot be beaten.
The cutter wheel is at the end of the bar, and has a recess in the face of the gauge for safe storage when not in use. With the cutter at the end of the bar, measuring the depth of a mortice and being able to then transfer this measurement accurately is now possible.
The bevel of the cutter pulls the gauge into the timber rather than allowing it to wander away, again another little feature by Veritas making for an easy and pleasurable tool to use.
The Metric gauge has graduations along the 150mm bar. Imperial gauge shown.
The collet has a fine-pitch thread; one revolution advances or retracts the wheel 1/32", a half turn 1/64", a quarter turn 1/128", etc. The knurled thumbscrew then locks the setting.
